Public Art Event – December 2013

On December 2, students from Rotella Interdistrict Magnet School went on our now “annual” field trip to downtown Waterbury to City Hall and the Chase Building. We decorated the trees with seasonal ornaments made during visual arts classes. First grade students worked on decoupage ornaments with seasonal or holdiday pictures. Second grade students worked on snowmen. Some created ceramic snowmen and others were made from celluclay. We used the ceramic snowflakes from last year to decorate a winter tree this year, because the tree was so beautiful the previous year.

After the students finished decorating, they were given hot cocoa and donuts. All enjoyed! Mayor O’Leary stopped in to thank the students and have his picture taken with them. He also surprised the students by telling them that he would visit them possibly in January and have a pizza party!

Students that participated: Jaime, Jeremiah, Lidia, Hailey, Alexandra, Sarah, Nicholas, Cierra, Sadie, Michael, Annalee, Julia, Thomasina, Matthew, Nathan, Milina, Sarah, Malik, Antonio, Saba, Kasey, Lia, Jasias, Jared, Tiffany
